Description

Handcrafted original aircraft skin from a BOEING B707-320B.

The Boeing Company became an aviation giant manufacturing propeller bombers during The World War II. But after the war, Boeing decided to move forward with a jet airliner. As a result, the world saw this elegant Boeing 367-80 prototype performing two unbelievable barrel rolls over Seattle's Lake Washington on August 6, 1955.

Boeing's effort paid out. Pan Am placed the first order of 20 airframes right after the air show. This airliner with four jet engines is named the Boeing 707. On October 26, 1958, the Boeing 707 N711PA, Clipper America[1], performed the Pan Am's first scheduled jet flight from New York Idlewild (IDL, later renamed JFK) to Paris Le Bourget (LBG).

Soon after Pan Am started their Boeing 707 service, every passenger realized how fast and comfortable air travel could be. It was proven that the Boeing 707 was the most successful jet airliner among its rivals, hundreds of Boeing 707 jets were flying around the world within years. Together, both Pan Am and the Boeing 707 became the symbol for the jet age.

Built as Boeing 707-321B, a lengthened version of the original type, N880PA received the name Clipper Emerald Isle[1] and served for Pan Am since 1968. On October 26, 1983, this exact airliner was chosen for the 25th anniversary flight of the first U.S. commercial jet service JFK-LBG. As the last Pan Am Boeing 707 flight ever, N880PA was also given the name Clipper America on that day.

N880PA was also one of the last airliner in Pan Am colors to be scrapped. Decades after its retirement, we acquired some of its skins with the iconic baby blue paints. Now you can own this remarkable, rare, precious and unique piece. The jet age is no longer far from you; it's with you forever as this airlinertag!

[1]: N711PA was firstly named Clipper Mayflower and renamed Clipper America before the flight to Paris. It used the name Clipper Mayflower later until withdrawn from use.

[2]: Emerald Isle is synonymous with Ireland.
